It’s Monday and I have a new pattern to release!!!
I seriously love this thing. I haven’t seen any other crochet shawl shaped like this, though I could be wrong. The motifs are worked as you go. Isn’t that awesome? Plus you can wear it many different ways. It doesn’t need to be blocked as hard or as crazy as I did, either, but it gives it a totally different look.
Basically I improved upon the motifs in Kali’s Cowl. Well, maybe not improved, as that would make the motifs in Kali’s Cowl inferior; they are perfect as is for the cowl, but not good enough for Geoui. I’m a symmetry nut and this is only ever so slightly asymmetrical, not enough to bother me.
I named this shawl Geoui for a few reasons. First, the edging is almost the same as Kali’s Cowl. Second, the shawl is almost perfectly symmetrical. Third, Kali is Korean, so I chose a Korean name.
I do my best to have charts and written directions and this pattern is no exception. I spent a lot of time working on the charts and picking colors that would stand out and be different from each other because of the potential confusing-ness of the charts.
By the way, this pattern is addicting. I finished the second half of the shawl in TWO DAYS. I’m not kidding. Yes, it’s laceweight, but it is fast. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself!
